you were not created for defeat

You were not made to fail.

No, you are not the Queen of Everything. The universe is not balanced on your shoulders. But listen to me carefully: you were not created for defeat.

There is more ahead. There is always more ahead if you refuse to quit.

So keep going.

Keep working.

Keep building.

Keep trying again.

We were made to work. To create. To contribute. To bring something into this world that did not exist before us. Every one of us carries strange beautiful God-given strengths and talents, and maybe you cannot see yours yet. Maybe you feel invisible. Overlooked. Replaceable.

Listen to me. LISTEN.

You are not invisible.

You are seen.

You are loved.

And you cannot give up now.

Because if you hide, the world misses what only you were meant to bring into it: the joy, the kindness, the laughter, the art, the order, the mercy, the ideas, the encouragement, the perseverance, the testimony. Someone else may do something similar, sure — but nobody will ever do it quite like you.

So stop building your identity out of failure and fear. Look to Christ instead.

Stand at the cross long enough to understand what was done for you there. God made flesh stepped into death itself, carried sin to the grave, conquered it completely, and rose again victorious. That means despair does not get the final word. Shame does not get the final word. Your worst day does not get the final word.

And when you finally grasp how deeply God loves people — all people — the loud, the awkward, the bullies, the outliers, the artistic, the scientific, the anxious, the exhausted, the weird, the discouraged, the doubters, the talkative, the quiet…

Baby, it changes you.

He loves us.

He is ours.

And we are His.

So stop giving up.

Dig in.

Lift your eyes.

Take the next step.

Then another one after that.

Because we are not home yet.

And if you need somebody to remind you of that truth someday, come find me.

You can remind me too.
