MANDATORY SCmandatory

Baby, I am not a fan of the mandatory hug.

I tend to hug only people who came out of me or people who put people inside of me

(yes, pause, let that settle).

So if I hug you—or more accurately, if I allow you to hug me—it means something.

Something real. Something chosen. Something big in my small, carefully curated world.

The people who hug everyone aren’t wrong. They’re just wired differently.

And the people who don’t hand out affection like party favors aren’t cold—they’re just less physical.

Neither is better. Both are human.

So today, pay attention.

Notice the people who love differently, speak differently, walk differently than you.

Extend grace even when it feels awkward or unnatural—especially then—because this side of heaven, we all need a whole lot of grace and truth and love and high-fives and fist-bumps.

And yes… find someone to hug today.

Not as a tally mark.

Not as an obligation.

But as a real connection.

Make it matter.
